Southern Region Area 6 Service Competition

The Southern Region Area 6 VOA is hosting a competition between our councils to promote the service part of the ALPS model.

How it works:

All points go towards your council!

A submission includes:

  • A picture from the project
  • The date of the project
  • If the service was with a crew or a council*

Entry from a crew project: 5 points
Entry from a council project: 10 points

Any service project counts, as long as it is with your crew or your council. The timeframe for accepted projects is from June 1, 2019, to March 15th, 2020. Make sure to send all of them in, even the ones from previous months! The council the most points will get a prize/trophy for the Area 6 Service Award at SOAR in March!

Submissions can be admitted through email to area6srvservice@gmail.com!  Please carbon copy your advisor for YPT.

*A service project can be counted as being a council project if the council VOA has a part in organizing it and opening it up to all Venturers in the council.

SR-6 at Winterfest 2018

SR-6 Venturing will have a strong presence at Winterfest this year! For those who don’t know, Winterfest is a large-scale annual event held in Gatlinburg, TN, and hosted by the Northeast Georgia Council. Winterfest has been around for 44 years so far, and this year it’s the official event of Southern Region Venturing. And… it’s located within our area!

Winterfest will be held on February 9-11, 2018, at the Gatlinburg Convention Center. The event itself will have a variety of fun activities and competitions for Venturers to enjoy. The Southern Region VOA will be holding a region brunch on Sunday (more information on that here). In addition, the SR-6 VOA will be hosting a meet-and-greet on Saturday evening at 5:30pm EST (watch our Facebook group page for the location)—come meet your SR-6 VOA officers, hear updates from the area, and be there for an Area Venturing Leadership Award presentation.

If you’ll be at Winterfest, make sure to stop by our booth! We’d love to meet you and hear how your crew is leading the adventure!

Welcome!

Welcome to the new website for SR-6 Venturing! We’ve worked hard to make this your ultimate resource for all things pertaining to Venturing in Kentucky, Tennessee, half of Mississippi, and the additional counties which are part of SR-6.

The SR-6 Venturing Officers’ Association (VOA) exists to serve the VOAs in each member council, and, by extension, the Venturing membership at large. To help you find information quickly, we’ve added a bunch of features to this website. If you’re curious about the other councils in SR-6, just check out the map on the Member Councils page. If you want to meet your SR-6 VOA officers and advisors, head over to the VOA Leadership page. There’s a calendar of area and council events, information about the new SR-6 event SOAR, and forms where you can submit your council’s events and even request an SR-6 VOA officer to come to your event.

We’re looking to constantly improve this website for you and the other Venturers in SR-6. If you have any suggestions or comments (or you find a bug!), just drop us a line. And if you’re interested in helping out with the website or other aspects of SR-6 Venturing communications, please let us know!

Enjoy the new website!
